The PAM01232 is Panerai's 44mm Submersible in Carbotech, with a matte deep blue "Blu Abisso" dial and a matching blue rubber accordion strap. The case is genuine carbon fiber composite, not PVD-coated steel, which means each watch has a unique layered wood-grain pattern. VSF's version runs the Dandong P.900 movement.

Movement: Dandong P.900

The P.900 is a ground-up clone with no decorative overlay plates. VSF kept the architecture thin to match the 13.3mm case profile. Hacking seconds works correctly — the seconds hand stops when the crown is pulled to the time-setting position. The date at 3 o'clock adjusts independently via the quick-set position, and there's no lag or sticking during the change. Hand-winding is smooth, and time-setting has the right amount of resistance.

Case: genuine Carbotech

The case isn't PVD or painted. It's milled from layers of carbon fiber composite bonded with polymer under high pressure, the same way Panerai produces Carbotech. The cutting process exposes the layered structure, so every case has a unique organic wood-grain pattern. No two look identical. The material is lightweight compared to steel — the watch wears noticeably lighter on wrist than a steel Submersible of the same size.

The lever-lock crown guard is also Carbotech, engraved with "REG. T.M." The lever tension is set to apply even sealing pressure against the winding stem gasket.

Dial: Blu Abisso matte blue

The dial is a deep matte navy with zero gloss. Under direct sun, there's no glare bouncing off the surface — it's designed for legibility in bright conditions. The layout pairs a date window at 3 o'clock with a small seconds register at 9. The indices are applied rather than printed, and the skeletonized hands are heavily filled with Super-LumiNova. Low-light visibility is strong.

Bezel: Carbotech dive bezel

The unidirectional bezel is Carbotech, matching the case. The 15-minute scale has raised indexing studs with a luminous capsule at the zero marker. The click mechanism locks at 1-minute intervals with no reverse backlash — it turns one way only, and it stays where you set it. The tension is firm enough not to drift during a dive but doesn't require excessive force to turn.

Strap

The strap is a heavy-duty dark blue rubber in Panerai's accordion-bellow diver style. The buckle is black DLC-coated titanium rather than steel, which keeps the overall weight down and matches the matte tool-watch look. It's comfortable on bare skin and sized to fit over a wetsuit.

Things to check in QC

Since Carbotech has a unique pattern on every case, look for clean layer lines with no cracks or delamination at the edges. The bezel click action should be firm with no grinding. The date should flip cleanly at midnight without sticking. Verify the dial is matte — any gloss on the blue means the wrong finish. The crown guard lever should close with even pressure.
