Movement: Dandong P.900
Same Dandong P.900 architecture used across VSF's Submersible line. Full hacking seconds, smooth hand-winding, and a quick-set date at 3 o'clock with no lag. No decorative overlay plates — every bridge and gear on the movement is functional.
Dial: Grigio Roccia fumé gradient
The dial transitions from anthracite grey at the center to near-black at the lower edge. It's a polished gradient finish, so the tone shifts as the viewing angle changes — brighter in the middle, darker toward the bottom. The date at 3 o'clock is balanced by the small seconds register at 9. Indices are applied, white gold-tone plated, and heavily filled with Super-LumiNova.
Case: 44mm brushed steel
The 44mm cushion case is 316L steel with a satin-brushed eSteel finish — matte and uniform across all surfaces. The crescent crown guard lever is tensioned to apply even pressure against the winding stem gasket. At 13.3mm thick, the case splits the difference between Panerai's larger 47mm and smaller models without being oversized.
Bezel: high-gloss grey ceramic
The bezel uses a mirror-polished grey ceramic insert rather than matte. The graduations are clean, and the bezel clicks at 1-minute intervals with firm tactile feedback and no reverse backlash. The luminous capsule at zero is correctly set into the ceramic.
Strap
Grey technical fabric with a brushed steel trapezoidal buckle. Soft on skin, dries fast.
Things to check in QC
The gradient on the dial should transition smoothly from anthracite center to dark edge with no visible banding lines. The bezel should read as glossy, not matte — a matte bezel on this reference means the wrong insert. Bezel clicks should be firm at each minute position with no play between stops.
