The Panerai Submersible Azzurro PAM01209 is the 42mm blue ceramic bezel variant. Panerai released it as a 500-piece online exclusive boutique edition. The blue ceramic insert is the whole reason this reference exists. It is a matte blue that Panerai calls Azzurro, paired with a black dial and blue dial text. The 42mm case is the mid-size Submersible option. Smaller than the 47mm monsters, larger than the 40mm Quarantas. VSF Watch Factory got the ceramic color and the case finishing right.

The bezel. The blue ceramic insert is matte, not glossy. In bright light it reads as a mid-blue. In low light it deepens toward navy. Ceramic means it will not scratch under normal wear and the color will not fade from UV exposure. The polished steel raised graduations sit on top of the blue insert for the first 15 minutes, then switch to dots. The contrast between the polished steel and the matte blue ceramic is the most visually striking part of the watch. The bezel action is firm with clean clicks and the luminous pip at 12 is correctly centered. VSF matched the blue tone correctly and the ceramic finish has the right level of matte.

The case. 42mm in satin-brushed steel with the standard Submersible crown guard. The brushing is even and the finish is consistent across the case body, lugs, and crown guard. The 42mm size splits the difference between the wearable Quarantas and the oversized 47mm Submersibles. It has wrist presence without the weight penalty. The crown guard snaps with the same resistance as the larger models and the internal seals are correctly placed for water resistance.

The dial. Matte black with applied luminous indices and skeletonized hands. The "SUBMERSIBLE" text at 12 and the depth rating at 6 are printed in electric blue instead of the usual white or green. The blue text ties the dial to the blue bezel without adding another physical color element. It is a small detail but it makes the watch feel cohesive. The date at 3 and small seconds at 9 are standard Submersible layout. The lume is white in daylight and glows green in the dark.

The movement. Dandong P.900 automatic. Same movement used across the 42mm Submersible and Quaranta models. It does not have the independent jumping hour hand of the P.9010. Date quickset is standard and the small seconds runs at 9. If you need the GMT function, look at the 44mm Submersibles with the P.9010. If the 42mm size is what fits your wrist, the P.900 is a reliable automatic that does what it needs to do.

The strap. Black rubber accordion diver strap with a brushed steel tang buckle. The accordion design flexes with wrist movement and expands over a wetsuit. The brushed buckle matches the case finish. The black rubber and black dial let the blue ceramic bezel carry the color. Strap swaps are fast and this case takes blue rubber or NATO straps naturally. For actual water use the rubber strap is what you want.
