The Panerai Submersible Verde Militare PAM01055 is the military green 42mm Submersible. Panerai released it as an online exclusive, their first solid green dial in a steel Submersible case. Before this, green meant bronze or composite. The 1055 put it in brushed steel at a wearable size. The green is flat matte, not sunburst, not gradient. The white lume against the green dial is the cleanest color combination in the Submersible line. VSF got the green tone and the case finishing right.

The dial. Flat matte military green. No sunburst, no gradient, no metallic. It is a solid color that shifts from olive in bright light to a deeper forest green in shadow. The white Super-LumiNova dots and batons sit against it with strong contrast. Panerai skipped the vintage beige lume on this one. White on green reads cleaner and more modern. VSF matched the green correctly and the matte finish does not look washed out or too dark. The dial text is correctly placed. "PANERAI SUBMERSIBLE" at 12 in white. Date at 3, small seconds at 9. The skeletonized hands with white fill stay legible against the green background.
The case. 42mm fully brushed steel. The brushing absorbs light and hides scratches. The crown guard and bezel are both brushed to match. The bezel has polished raised graduations that catch a little light against the satin body. The bezel action is firm with clean clicks and the luminous pip at 12 is centered. The 42mm size is the middle ground in the Submersible range. Smaller than the 47mm monsters, larger than the 40mm Quarantas. It has wrist presence without dominating smaller wrists. The weight is manageable for all-day wear.
The movement. Dandong P.900 automatic. Standard date quickset and small seconds at 9. No independent jumping hour hand. The P.900 was chosen to fit the 42mm case profile and it is the correct movement for this reference. It is reliable and the winding feel is smooth. If the GMT function matters to you, the 42mm Submersibles with the P.900 are not the right fit. Look at the 44mm models with the P.9010.
The strap. Military green rubber accordion diver strap with a brushed steel tang buckle. The green matches the dial tone. The accordion design flexes with wrist movement and expands over a wetsuit. The brushed buckle matches the case finish. The strap is comfortable and the green-on-green pairing gives the watch a cohesive look. Strap changes are fast and this case takes black rubber or olive NATO naturally. For actual water use the rubber strap is what you want.
