The Panerai Submersible Carbotech PAM00616 is the first carbon fiber composite watch Panerai ever made. Released before the Carbotech Luminors and before the forged carbon dials, the 616 established the material language that the entire Carbon Submersible line still uses. 47mm case, fully Carbotech, vintage beige lume with electric blue accents on the small seconds subdial and the dial text. It is a big watch that wears lighter than it looks. VSF got the carbon pattern and the blue accent matching right.

The carbon. The 616 is where Panerai introduced Carbotech. Thin sheets of carbon fiber compressed with a polymer binder under heat and pressure. The result is a matte black material with visible layered striations. Each case has a different pattern. It weighs significantly less than steel. The 47mm case on the 616 wears lighter than a 44mm steel Submersible. VSF replicated the Carbotech process correctly. The layered grain is visible and the matte finish absorbs light the way it should. The bezel is also Carbotech with Carbotech studs around the perimeter for grip. The crown guard is Carbotech. Every external surface on the case head is carbon.
The dial. Matte black with vintage beige lume on the numerals and dots. The skeletonized hands have beige luminous fill. The vintage warmth references Panerai's 1950s dive instruments. The contrast comes from the electric blue accents. "CARBOTECH" is printed in blue at 6. The small seconds subdial at 9 has blue dots around the perimeter and a blue hand. The blue is a specific shade. Not navy, not aqua. Electric blue. VSF matched it correctly. The beige and blue together define the 616's dial identity. Later Carbon Submersibles went all-blue or all-beige. The 616 mixes both.
The movement. Dandong P.9000 automatic. Independent jumping hour hand for time zone adjustment and date quickset through the hour hand. Neither stops the running seconds. The P.9000 is the correct movement for the 47mm Submersible case and it is consistent with VSF's other 47mm models. The winding is smooth and the GMT function works without the quirks that show up in cheaper clone calibers.
The strap. Black rubber accordion diver strap with electric blue "OP" logos stamped on both sides. The "OP" stands for Officine Panerai and the blue matches the dial accents. The accordion design flexes with wrist movement. The buckle is DLC-coated titanium with a tang closure. Titanium keeps the weight down and the DLC coating prevents any visual mismatch against the dark Carbon case. Strap changes are fast and this case takes black rubber or grey canvas naturally. The blue OP logo means you do not need a blue-accented aftermarket strap for the watch to have enough color.
