The Panerai Submersible Bronzo PAM01074 is the first bronze Submersible in 42mm. For years the Bronzo line was 47mm only. If your wrist could not handle that size, you were out. The 1074 fixed that. It pairs a CuSn8 bronze case with the Blu Abisso deep navy dial. Blue, not the olive green of the original 382. The bronze patina develops against a blue backdrop instead of green, and that changes the entire look. VSF Watch Factory got the bronze alloy and the dial color right.

The bronze. CuSn8 marine bronze. Same alloy as the original 47mm Bronzo. It starts warm, close to rose gold in color, and oxidizes on contact with air, moisture, and salt. The patina shifts from gold to brown to green over weeks and months. No two cases age the same. The 1074 is a full bronze build. Case, bezel, crown guard, and buckle. Every external metal surface will patina together. That is different from later Bronzo references that use ceramic bezel inserts to freeze part of the look. The 1074 ages as one piece. VSF used the correct alloy and the patina develops along the same color timeline as gen.
The dial. Blu Abisso is a deep matte navy. Darker than most blue dials in the Submersible line. Not sunburst, not gradient. Flat matte blue. The bronze-toned lume on the dots and indices ties the dial to the case without being an exact match. The skeletonized hands with bronze fill complete the warm-on-blue palette. The date at 3 and small seconds at 9 are standard Submersible placement. The blue dial against the evolving bronze case is what gives the 1074 its identity. The original green-dial Bronzo feels military. This one feels nautical.
The size. 42mm makes the Bronzo wearable for the first time. A 47mm bronze watch is a statement piece. A 42mm bronze watch is a daily option. The weight is lower and the case fits under a cuff. The crown guard and bezel geometry scale correctly to the smaller case. VSF kept the proportions right in the downsizing. The bezel rotates with firm clicks and the luminous pip is centered at 12.
The movement. Dandong P.900 automatic. Standard date, quickset and small seconds at 9. No independent jumping hour hand. The P.900 was chosen to keep the 42mm case profile slim and it is the correct movement for this reference. If you need the GMT function, the 42mm Submersibles are not the right fit. Look at the 44mm models. The P.900 is reliable and the winding is smooth.
The strap. Vintage blue leather with white contrast stitching and a solid bronze buckle. The blue matches the dial. The leather has a suede-like finish that looks worn-in from day one. The bronze buckle patinas along with the case. The white stitching provides contrast against the blue without competing with the bronze. Strap changes are fast and this case takes blue rubber or brown leather naturally. For actual water exposure, swap to rubber. The bronze case and buckle will age either way.
