The Panerai Submersible Carbotech PAM01616 is the 47mm electric blue lume version of the Carbon Submersible. It takes the Carbotech case from the 616 and swaps the vintage beige lume for electric blue. The result is more aggressive and more modern. The 47mm case is big but the carbon keeps the weight manageable. VSF Watch Factory got the blue lume saturation and the carbon pattern right.

The lume. Electric blue Super-LumiNova on the dots, baton indices, skeletonized hands, and the small seconds subdial perimeter. In daylight the blue is a pale grey-blue against the matte black dial. In the dark it glows a saturated electric blue. The blue lume is colder and more technical than the beige lume on the earlier 616. Against the matte black carbon case, the blue gives the watch a Tron-like look. Some people will find it too aggressive. That is the point. VSF matched the blue correctly and the lume application is even across all the elements.

The case. 47mm Carbotech. Same carbon fiber composite as the other Carbon Submersibles. Compressed carbon sheets with a polymer binder. Matte black with visible layered striations. Each case pattern is different. The crown guard and bezel are both Carbotech. The bezel has Carbotech studs around the perimeter for grip instead of steel. The entire case head is carbon. It weighs noticeably less than a steel 47mm Submersible. The size is big but the weight saving makes it wearable for longer stretches than the dimensions suggest.

The movement. Dandong P.9010 automatic. Independent jumping hour hand for time zone adjustment and date quickset through the hour hand. Neither stops the running seconds. The P.9010 is the current-generation movement in the 47mm Submersible line and it is the correct architecture for this reference. The 42mm Carbon Submersibles use the P.900 without the jumping hour. The 47mm gets the P.9010 with the full feature set. Winding is smooth and the date change is clean.

The strap. Black rubber accordion diver strap with electric blue "OP" logos stamped on both sides. The blue logos match the dial lume tone. The accordion design flexes with wrist movement and expands over a wetsuit. The buckle is DLC-coated titanium with a tang closure. Titanium keeps the weight down and the DLC coating prevents any mismatch against the dark Carbon case. Strap changes are fast and this case takes black rubber or grey NATO naturally. The blue OP logos give the strap enough identity that you do not need a blue-accented aftermarket option.
