The Rolex Yacht-Master 40 126621 is the two-tone rose gold version on the Oyster bracelet. The Yacht-Master sits between the Submariner and the Daytona in Rolex's sports lineup. It has the Sub's water resistance and the Daytona's polished attitude. The rose gold bidirectional bezel with raised polished numerals against the matte sandblasted background is the defining feature. The black dial with the red "YACHT-MASTER" text keeps it legible. The bezel. The Yacht-Master bezel is what separates it from every other Rolex sports watch. It is bidirectional, which makes sense on a sailing deck and not underwater. The base is sandblasted matte rose gold with polished raised numerals. The numerals sit above the matte background and catch light from every angle. It is a more elaborate bezel than the Submariner's ceramic insert and it reads dressier as a result. VSF got the sandblasted background texture and the polished numeral finish right. The bezel rotates smoothly with clean detents.
The dial. Matte black with applied Chromalight indices and hands. The lume glows blue in the dark. The "YACHT-MASTER" text is printed in red below the center. It is the only color on the dial and it identifies the reference at a glance. The date at 3 sits under the cyclops lens on the crystal. The cyclops magnification is correct and the date is centered in the window. VSF matched the red text tone and the dial print quality is clean.
The gold. Rose gold PVD plating on the bezel, crown, and the center links of the Oyster bracelet. Rolex calls it Everose. It is a warm rose gold with a slightly darker, less pink tone than standard rose gold alloys. VSF matched the Everose tone correctly. The plating is even across all the gold surfaces. The two-tone bracelet alternates brushed steel outer links with polished rose gold center links. The contrast between the brushed steel and the polished gold gives the bracelet depth without being as loud as a full gold bracelet.
The case. 40mm in 904L steel. The same case platform as the Submariner Date. The crown is a screw-down Triplock with crown guards. The case finishing mixes brushed surfaces with polished bevels along the lugs. At 40mm and roughly 13mm thick, it wears like a Submariner. The cyclops sits over the date at 3. VSF's case proportions and finishing are correct.
The movement. Dandong 3235 automatic with a 72-hour power reserve. The 3235 is Rolex's current-generation movement and it replaced the 3135. The power reserve is the main upgrade. Three full days off the wrist without stopping. The movement has a blue hairspring and the correct shock absorber layout. Winding is smooth and the date changes instantaneously at midnight rather than slowly rolling over. VSF's 3235 is the correct movement for this reference.
The bracelet. Two-tone Oyster with brushed steel outer links and polished rose gold center links. The Oysterlock clasp has a safety catch and an Easylink extension that gives roughly 5mm of quick adjustment. The bracelet is comfortable and the articulation is smooth. The polished gold center links will pick up surface marks with daily wear, same as the gen.
