The Rolex Yacht-Master 42 226658 is the yellow gold Yacht-Master on the Oysterflex strap. It is the most visually assertive reference in the Yacht-Master range. The 42mm yellow gold case against the matte black ceramic bezel and the black Oysterflex strap creates the highest-contrast look Rolex makes in this line. The gold. Yellow gold plating on the full 42mm case and the Oysterlock clasp. The yellow gold tone is brighter and warmer than the Everose rose gold on the 126655. Against the matte black ceramic bezel and the black Oysterflex strap, the gold case reads as the dominant visual element. There is no subtlety to it. A full gold Yacht-Master is not an under-the-radar watch. The 42mm size only amplifies that. VSF matched the yellow gold tone correctly. The plating is even across the case body, lugs, crown, crown guards, and clasp.
The bezel. Matte black Cerachrom ceramic with polished raised numerals. The same bezel design and construction as the other ceramic Yacht-Master bezels. The sandblasted matte background absorbs light. The polished numerals catch it. Bidirectional rotation with smooth, precise clicks. The black against the yellow gold creates the strongest contrast in the Yacht-Master bezel lineup. Ceramic means scratch resistance and color stability.
The dial. Matte black with yellow gold-trimmed Chromalight indices and Mercedes hands. The gold trim on the markers ties the dial to the case. The "YACHT-MASTER" text is printed in red. The lume glows blue in the dark. The date at 3 sits under the cyclops lens. The dial layout is the same as the other Yacht-Master references. The yellow gold trim is what identifies it as the 226658. VSF's dial print and lume application are clean.

The movement. Dandong 3235 automatic with a 72-hour power reserve. Three days off the wrist without stopping. The date flips instantaneously at midnight. Blue hairspring and correct shock absorber layout. Winding is smooth and reliable. Same movement across the VSF Yacht-Master and Submariner range.
The strap. Black Oysterflex elastomer with a titanium-nickel blade inside for structure. The underside has longitudinal cushions that create air channels for breathability. It wears cooler and more comfortably in heat and humidity than a metal bracelet. The clasp is the Oysterlock in yellow gold plating with an Easylink extension of roughly 5mm. The Glidelock is not included on the Oysterflex models. The black strap against the yellow gold case creates the same high-contrast look as the dial and bezel. Strap changes are possible but the Oysterflex is the correct pairing for this reference.
