The 126500LN is the current-generation steel Daytona: slimmer case, metal-rimmed ceramic bezel, updated 4131 movement. Two factories make a credible version of it: VSF Factory and Clean Factory. Both use 904L steel. Both get the broad strokes right. The differences are in the details that matter over months of ownership: the crystal, the movement, and the bracelet.
Here's how they compare.
1. Dial and crystal
The "Panda" dial is a white face with black sub-dials. The first thing you notice between these two is the crystal.
VSF's sapphire crystal is more transparent. Under harsh light, the Clean version sometimes has a faint milky haze at the edges. It's not obvious in photos, but it's there in person, and it dulls the contrast between the white dial and black sub-dials. VSF's crystal doesn't have this issue. The dial reads as cleaner and higher-contrast.
The sub-dial rings on the 126500 are thinner than those of the previous generation. VSF matched the thickness and the subtle sunburst reflection correctly. Clean's rings are close but can look flatter under direct light. It's a small difference, but the sub-dial rings on a Panda dial are one of the most visible parts of the watch.
2. Movement: Dandong 4131 vs. Shanghai 4131
This is the main reason to choose one over the other.
VSF uses the Dandong 4131. Clean uses the Shanghai (SH) 4131. They look similar through a display case back. They are not similar underneath. The Dandong has functional upper and lower transmission jewels, a correct skeletonized pallet fork, and a true free-sprung balance. The SH uses fake surface rubies, a solid T-shaped pallet fork from 7750 architecture, and a fake free-sprung system with a hidden regulator arm — the adjustment weights on the balance wheel are cosmetic.
What you notice in daily use: the Dandong winds more smoothly, the rotor is quieter, and the chronograph pushers engage with a cleaner click. Power reserve on the Dandong holds closer to 72 hours. The SH tends to run short of that.
The SH4131 is not a bad movement in isolation. It's a modified 4130 built on older architecture. But next to the Dandong 4131, the gap is real, and it's in the parts you can't see until something breaks.
3. Bracelet and clasp
Both bracelets are 904L steel with brushed outer links and polished center links. The difference is in the articulation. VSF's links have slightly more flexibility, so the bracelet drapes around the wrist instead of sitting stiffly. Clean's bracelet is good, but it takes longer to break in.
On the clasp: VSF's coronet is more three-dimensionally milled, with rounded tips. The ROLEX and GENEVA engravings inside the clasp are deep-etched with a frosted base. The Oysterlock safety clasp snaps shut with the right amount of resistance — not too stiff, not loose. Clean's clasp is closed, but the coronet can look slightly flatter, and the snap engagement is a bit softer.
4. Caseback
The fluted teeth around the caseback edge are where the Rolex opening tool grips. VSF's teeth are sharper and more evenly spaced. This matters for water resistance — the caseback seals more consistently when the threading is precise. Clean's caseback is fine, but the machining is a small step down in consistency. If you're having the watch pressure tested, the VSF caseback gives you better odds of passing without adjustment.
5. Bottom line
Clean Factory made a solid 126500LN. But between the two, VSF wins on the three things that matter most: the crystal is clearer, the Dandong 4131 is a better movement than the Shanghai 4131, and the bracelet articulation is more natural out of the box.
